Fire Alarm Panel Maintenance

Will your fire alarm work in the event of a fire?

BS 5839 states that all Fire Alarm panels must be inspected daily by a responsible person

(the client) and all fire alarm systems must  be inspected and serviced at intervals of

between 3 - 6 months (depending on your business type) by a suitable person/ company.

This periodic inspection and servicing needs to be carried out by a competent person with

specialist knowledge of fire detection and fire alarm systems.

The responsible person is also required to perform and document a weekly test of manual call

points to ensure that they operate correctly.

The results of these tests must be logged in the alarm logbook and these records must be

made available for inspection where requested by the relevant authorities.

BS 5839-8:2013 also states that if the alarm is not tested at these intervals - the system is not

regarded as compliant.

We service and maintain most models and makes of alarms in use today.
